A desiccator is used for storing samples in a moisture free environment. Typically, a desiccator is a large enclosure hooked up to a vacuum line with hygroscopic media at the bottom. When the hygroscopic media is fully saturated with water, it turns pink. It can be regenerated by heating it above 100 degrees to desorb any water.
