Galvanostatic Cycling

Common method for testing batteries. A current is applied to drive an electrochemical reaction, followed by a reverse current to drive the reverse reaction. The potential response of the material is recorded. Important metrics include average voltage representing the Gibbs free energy of the reaction, coulombic efficiency representing the reversibility of the reaction.

Arbin tester

Materials are often tested in a coin-cell, pouch-cell, or flooded cell geometry.
