A simple technique for removing a solid-phase particle from a liquid phase. Usually, people use an alumina vacuum flask with a paper filter on top, and a Erlenmeyer flask with a vacuum port.

When using a paper filter, it is critical to fully dry the filter paper before attempting to remove the filtered product, or paper fibers can detach into the product.
